Janes Delighted With Half Time Response

Janes Delighted With Half Time Response

Club Admin29 Jan - 20:45

Danny Janes' side had to show their true colours in the second half of last night's Marsh Challenge Cup victory over Brimscombe & Thrupp.

Changes were made to the line-up to keep the side fresh as The Plums towards the end of what has been a really important, and intense, period for the Football Club.

The reaction however wouldn't have been quite what Janes was expecting with a lacklustre first half performance despite taking the lead just three minutes into the game from the penalty spot.

Zaq Hussain slotted home the penalty after Reiss Taylor-Randle was brought down, and whilst many might've hope the home side would push on there was certainly a spark missing from the opening forty-five minutes.

That said, the reaction came in the second half and undoubtedly pleased Janes. Harlie Price scoring in the opening minutes of the second half settled the contest and from there, Pershore ran riot.

Harlie Price finishing the game with a hat-trick against his former side whilst Sacha Everard and Aidan Clark also added to their season tally.

Taylor Eades scored his first goal in senior football and he'll not be gifted an easier chance. Whilst the linesman had flagged for offside, the visitors stopped but the referee waived play on and Eades raced in to slot beyond the goalkeeper.

A huge mention also to Steve Webb who got on the scoresheet; 'Webby' was featuring in his 550th competitive game for Pershore Town last night and added his second goal of the season from just inside the penalty box.

It was job done for Pershore, in dominant fashion too, but attention will quickly turn now to Saturday's trip to Longlevens where both sides will be desperate for three Hellenic League points.

"A really pleasing result in terms of goals scored and the clean sheet." said Janes.

"First half we were nowhere near the levels we should be, Brimscombe defended really well and looked a threat with their energy.

"We spoke at half-time around the elements of the performance that needed to be better, we got the reaction we wanted.

"The players played with more intensity, energy and urgency. The quality of the team kicked in and we scored some great goals.

"Full credit to Brimscombe & Thrupp who worked tirelessly throughout the game.

"We are delighted to progress and we now look forward to training tomorrow night."
