Danny Janes' side still remain without a win during the 2024/25 campaign, with Tuesday evening being the sixth game of the season.
After a much improved performance against Hereford Pegasus the week previous, there was hope from within that The Plums fortune would change against local rivals, Worcester Raiders.
A penalty converted by the visitors just prior to half time proved enough for three points in a performance that Danny Janes was disappointed with.
"It was a difficult night, not just because of the result but because of the performance." said Janes.
"The game was the first time this season I have witnessed a Pershore team I don’t recognise.
"The performance lacked energy, desire and leadership. I thought the game overall was a poor game in terms of quality.
"First half was so flat it was just a waste of 45 minutes. Worcester played with more intensity in and out of possession. The only positive was that we could've come in level and assess, but we gifted them a goal with the penalty.
"Second half was slightly better but the overall quality was such a disappointment. Out of the 11 players that started, I had one player at a 7/10, the rest varied between a 3 and a 6.
"You just can’t expect to win a game of football with so many below par performances.
"It has been a really difficult start, the team had a really poor end to the season last season and we haven’t had the impact I thought we could have right from the off.
"I will always take full responsibility and I need to also look at myself. I felt I was quite passive in the game and could have changed things a lot sooner, opposed to waiting for the quality players we have to raise their game.
"I wouldn’t say I am enjoying this situation because we aren’t where we want to be, but I am thriving under the pressure. I will take on all of the pressure and all of the questions.
"There could be a few changes as I can’t wait for players to show they are to the level that is required, they have had six games and fallen well short.
"What I need to know from the players is that they are prepared to come through this difficult moment and are ready to fight.
"Those who aren’t up to that challenge, need to let me know and move on. I will find out where their mind-sets are over the next few days.
"As always, I want to thank our amazing supporters and the committee for their constant support."
