Kirk, who captained The Plums to the Hellenic League Division One title in Danny Janes' first spell in charge of Pershore Town, recently returned to the club from fellow Hellenic League side, Hereford Pegasus.
Layton joined Pershore Town from Worcester Raiders during the 2021/22 Season, prior to Danny Janes arrival. The experienced, former midfielder, quickly became a favourite within Janes' management team and supporters alike.
A number of impressive performances from centre back meant that Layton was a mainstay in the side as Pershore reached the Hellenic League Division One Play-Off places despite being cut adrift early on.
Whilst success that first season didn't materialise in terms of league standings, Layton was handed the armband ahead of the following season as The Plums returned to Step 5.
A move to Worcester City for the 2023/24 Season followed, and more success for Layton as 'City' went on to secure the Hellenic League Premier Division title with relative ease, Kirk featuring fifty-four times for the Champions that season.
After a short spell with Evesham United in Pre-Season, Kirk then joined Hereford Pegasus where he featured just once before turning to Pershore Town to link back up with Danny Janes.
"I made the decision over the weekend to change the captaincy at the Club and to appoint Kirk Layton." said Janes.
"Kirk captained the side in our first spell at Pershore and he was fantastic.
"You don't see many leaders anymore in Football, players who are able to drive standards, organise those around them and share information at all times are hard to find.
"Kirk knows exactly what we want as a management team. He is able to deliver a high level of performance consistently whilst holding others to account.
"Leaders want to lead sides and have that added responsibility and pressure, Kirk will thrive in the role and lead us to where we need to be.
"He has the respect of the group because of his footballing ability and his winning mentality."
