A Worcestershire Senior Cup victory over Bewdley Town on Tuesday night was a welcome scoreline after a poor performance at Sporting Club Inkberrow last Saturday, but today's trip to Fairford Town will provide Janes' side with a much tougher challenge.
Fairford, sitting third in the Hellenic League, have suffered just one league defeat this season and has eight wins and five draws in their fourteen games.
Last time out for our hosts was defeat in the FA Vase, Fairford falling to a 2 - 0 defeat at home to East Cowes Victoria.
Sought-after striker, Jamal Lawrence, leads the way in the scoring charts. The former Cheltenham Town forward has scored nine goals this season, backing up an impressive campaign last season where he scored twenty five.
Charlie Holliday and Joe Shutt are backing up Jamal, both have scored on six occasions this season for Jamie Reid's side.
One player that is unlikely to feature today is that of former Bourton Rovers captain, Danny Way. Way has been in impressive form for Fairford this campaign but is likely to miss out through suspension after seeing red in back to back games recently.
Dominant defender, Luke Hitchman, is likely to return to the line-up. He missed out during Saturday's FA Vase tie through suspension after receiving a red card late on against Slimbridge AFC.
For Danny Janes' Pershore Town side, they were the only Hellenic League Premier Division side to play in mid-week, a 3 - 1 win at Bewdley Town saw progression into the Quarter Final of this year's Worcestershire Senior Cup.
James Baldwin opened the scoring for The Plums, that taking his tally to six for the season and matching with Bailey Fuller and Aidan Clark.
Harlie Price is expected to return to the squad today, he's scored four this season but missed the trip to Sporting Club Inkberrow and Bewdley Town through an injury picked up in training.
There was a first goal of the season for Ben Tilbury in Tuesday's win, he scored The Plums' second on the evening and then doubled his tally late on from the penalty spot.
"The players have the opportunity today to bounce back from the disappointing league result last week." said Janes.
"They delivered a professional performance on Tuesday evening and picked up the result required, but it’s important that it is taken into league action.
"I am no longer looking at the teams ahead of us, we don’t deserve to do that. I am simply focused on the performance of the team and certain individuals.
"Fairford are having a great season and have only lost once in the league.
"If we aren’t at the level then we get hurt this afternoon, perform to where we can and we have a great chance of winning the game."
