Match Preview: Hereford Pegasus vs Pershore Town

Club News12 Dec - 16:41

Pershore host Hereford Pegasus in the Hellenic Challenge Cup, looking to build on their cup form as both sides target a place in the quarter-finals.

Pershore Town return to cup action on Saturday as they host Hereford Pegasus in the Hellenic League Challenge Cup Fourth Round, with both sides looking to progress after strong wins in the previous stage. The Plums saw off Carterton 4-1, while Pegasus reached this round with a convincing 3-0 win over Bewdley Town.

Pegasus arrive in mixed league form but dangerous in cup competitions. They come into the tie after a strong 4-1 victory over Hallen, having produced an excellent attacking display. Recent results include a loss against Slimbridge (3-1) and win against Thornbury Town (3-1), showing their ability to score goals across. They also defeated high-flying Roman Glass St George earlier in the season—proof of their capability on big occasions.

However, inconsistency remains part of their story, defeats to Worcester Raiders and Mangotsfield United, plus a 3-1 loss to Pershore earlier in the season, highlight vulnerabilities that Pershore will be keen to test.

Key threats include a forward line that has scored 13 goals in their last six matches across all competitions, including a four-goal thriller in their 4-1 win last weekend.

Pershore come into this one needing a spark after a string of frustrating league performances. But the cup has already given Dev Ward’s side memorable moments this season—none bigger than the 7-2 win at Malvern Town in the Worcestershire FA county competition. A rare home game in recent times for the Plums as they will be looking to rediscover their attacking rhythm and book their place in the quarter-finals.

A competitive, high-tempo tie is in store at the That Carpet Place Community Stadium.
