Pershore visit Southern League side Malvern Town on Tuesday in the Worcestershire Senior Cup, aiming to bounce back and test higher-level opposition.

Pershore Town make the short trip to HDAnywhere Stadium on Tuesday night for a Worcestershire Senior Invitational Cup Second Round clash with Malvern Town.

It’s another tough test for the Plums, who will face a Malvern side currently flying high in the Southern League Division One South, sitting sixth in the table and just one place outside the play-off positions.

Malvern have enjoyed an impressive campaign so far, with strong home form including wins over Mousehole, Melksham, and Winchester City, as well as a 5–1 victory over Redditch Borough in the previous round of this competition, most recently beating Bashley 1-0 on Saturday.

Pershore come into the tie following Saturday’s 4–1 defeat at Droitwich Spa in the Wychavon derby, a result that didn’t fully reflect the balance of the game, with the Plums creating several good chances in both halves but unable to take them.

In the last round, Pershore produced one of their best performances of the season, beating Division One leaders Bewdley Town 4–0, and they’ll be aiming for a similar display against higher-level opposition on Tuesday night.

The game also follows the departure of striker Archie Thurston, who has joined Midland League side Stourport Swifts. Archie departs having scored five goals in 14 league appearances this season, after progressing from Pershore’s Under 18s setup two years ago. Everyone at the club wishes him well in the next step of his career.

Manager Dev Ward and his staff have been working hard in recent days to add a couple of fresh faces to the squad, with new arrivals potentially eligible for selection ahead of the trip to Malvern.
