New signing Prince Henry, who joined earlier in the week on dual registration from Sporting Khalsa, made an unforgettable debut by scoring four goals, while Calum Harper, Jack Griffiths-Perry, and Yuri Quintas were also on target in a remarkable night for the Plums
In miserable weather conditions, Malvern began strongly and showed why they sit just outside the Southern League Division One South play-off places. Pershore found themselves under pressure early on, and the hosts took the lead on 18 minutes when Levi Francis’ speculative effort bounced awkwardly in front of goalkeeper Joe Cunneen, looping over him and into the net.
Malvern remained on top for much of the first half, with crosses flashing across the box and Cunneen called into action a couple of times, but Pershore defended well to stay in the contest. The Plums created little before the break but showed flashes of threat through Yuri Quintas and debutant Henry, who began to find space in behind as the half drew to a close.
Pershore came out revitalised and immediately began to take control, pressing higher and using their pace in wide areas to stretch Malvern’s back line.
On 55 minutes, the comeback began. Henry broke through on goal and was brought down by goalkeeper Josh Bishop, leaving the referee with no choice but to point to the spot. Henry stepped up confidently to score his first goal in Pershore colours and level the game.
Just two minutes later, the turnaround was complete. Another dangerous move down the left ended with the ball falling to Calum Harper, who hammered home a superb half-volley off the underside of the crossbar to make it 2–1.
Only moments later, Pershore made it three. Henry picked up the ball on the right-hand side of the area and curled a brilliant finish into the far corner, a goal that summed up his confidence and quality.
Three goals in five minutes had completely stunned the hosts. Malvern briefly threatened a response on 73 minutes when Piers Walton finished neatly from the edge of the box to reduce the deficit to 3–2, but any hopes of a comeback were short-lived. Just a minute later, Quintas again caused havoc down the left, cutting inside before unselfishly squaring for Henry to tap home his hat-trick.
Henry wasn’t done yet. On 80 minutes, he turned in his fourth of the evening from a right-wing cross from Kyle Clayton, via a slight deflection, to make it 5–2 and complete a dream debut. Pershore weren’t finished either. In the final minute of normal time, they broke quickly from a Malvern corner, and Jack Griffiths-Perry showed great composure to slot home number six.
Then, deep into stoppage time, confusion in the Malvern defence saw Quintas pounce, pressing high and finishing into an empty net to cap an unforgettable 7–2 victory for the visitors.
It was an outstanding second-half performance from Pershore full of energy, movement, and ruthless finishing as they stunned a Malvern side from a division above to continue their cup run in style. A night to remember for debutant Prince Henry, who marked his first appearance with four goals, while the collective display from Ward’s men underlined the team’s growing confidence and attacking quality.
