Pershore Town travelled to Mangotsfield United looking to build on their midweek cup victory and clean sheet against Bewdley Town. The hosts began the day two points ahead of Pershore and boasted one of the division’s strongest home defensive records, having conceded just once at Cossham Street in the league this season.
The first opening of the game fell to Pershore as Yuri Quintas released Archie Thurston, who fired a low strike across the face of goal that narrowly evaded both the target and Calum Harper arriving at the back post.
Mangotsfield responded with a threat of their own, Mircea Ilea heading over from a corner before Joe Cunneen was called into action to hold a firm effort from inside the area.
Pershore then spurned a golden chance to take the lead on nine minutes when Quintas again broke down the flank and picked out Thurston, who fired over from close range with only the keeper to beat.
Midway through the half, Macca King’s high press forced a turnover deep in Mangotsfield territory, Quintas stealing possession and finding Reece Day, whose snapshot on the turn was comfortably saved. Moments later, an excellent break from Chris Gregan saw him drive forward and feed Harper, whose squared ball reached King on the edge of the area, but his strike flew over.
Cunneen produced another solid save before the break, and four minutes from half time Quintas looked to be through on goal only to be cynically brought down — the home defender somehow escaping a booking. From the resulting free kick, Ty Griffin was unable to test the goalkeeper.
The hosts began the second half on the front foot, a dangerous cross finding an attacker unmarked twelve yards out, but the half-volley sailed over the bar. Moments later, Elliott Sumnall made a crucial block to deny another effort before Quintas linked up neatly in attack but fired straight at the keeper.
Mangotsfield’s aerial threat from set pieces was evident, but Pershore’s defence stood firm, dealing well with several dangerous deliveries.
On 74 minutes, Pershore broke the deadlock. Scott Wheeler sent Day down the left, who crossed low for substitute Lucas Colley. His pass across goal evaded Thurston, but Cian Sheehan arrived perfectly at the back post to fire home for 1–0.
Two minutes later, Quintas went close from the edge of the area, his strike flashing just wide as Pershore pushed for a second.
With three minutes remaining, Quintas raced through one-on-one from a tight angle but found the side netting with Thurston waiting in support.
However, in the first minute of added time, Colley turned scorer. Driving toward the box, he played in Thurston before collecting the rebound from the striker’s saved shot and calmly slotting past the keeper to seal a deserved 2–0 victory.
The result made it back-to-back wins and clean sheets for Pershore, who continue to climb the Hellenic Premier Division table
