Janes Doesn't Want Journey To End

Danny Janes' side have already achieved the unthinkable to make this seasons play-offs, but the young manager wants more.

Taking over in November, Danny Janes inherited a side sat 11th with 6 wins from 17 games; since then The Plums have produced an incredible run that has seen the club sneak into this seasons play-offs.

A trip to Sixways Stadium to take on the leagues runners-up, Worcester Raiders, tomorrow will see Janes' side needing a huge performance to progress.

"We are very excited about this game, it is remarkable that we are even in this position compared to where the team sat in the table when we joined in November." said Janes.

"We are used to the pressure the game brings because each league game we have played in has been similar to a cup final, we had to keep winning games to try and get close to the Play-Offs, we have already competed in a final this season and won, the players see this as just another game which is the right approach to take.

"There is absolutely no pressure on us, there will be pressure inside our changing room because we have high standards, but it is great we have come this far, we are ahead of our targets, but we aren’t ready to end our journey just yet.

"Worcester Raiders have to get promoted this season in my opinion, when you have the facilities they have, the financial resources and the playing squad they have built, not gaining promotion is a massive failure.

"Karl has done a great job as they have had a few issues behind the scenes this season I believe, he has steadied them and kept them in the hunt. I thought Karl and Jordan spoke really well in their preview of the game.

"I’ve seen comments from individuals at their club stating we are the favourites, so I question whether the belief is there from those higher up?

"Worcester Raiders have huge resources, and I would never criticise a club for that, if you can do it and it’s sustainable then what a project, but they can literally go out and sign who they like, so don’t tell me your team aren’t the favourites.

"When you have the likes of Logan Stoddart, Isaac Cooper, Josh Willis, Jordan Murphy and Joe Billingham, how can you not back your team? They are all outstanding players, they can beat anyone on their day with those players in the team.

"Raiders are operating at their maximum, they have built their squad throughout the season and are where they want to be in terms of personnel.

"My players have achieved the unthinkable; as a management team we haven’t had the chance to build our squad yet.

"We brought a handful of players in that we trust and think highly of, we wanted to work with the current playing squad this season and they have been absolutely outstanding.

"We have asked players to play out of position to fill gaps, and we will need to do the same again tomorrow, we know we are maybe four or five players short of where we want to be but that will come with a full Pre-Season.

"On form yes we are heading into this game in a great position, I love pressure, I never shy away from it and I back us to win the game. However, I am very aware that if we are not at it for every minute of that game, we can get hurt and rolled over, they could blow us away, no team has kept a clean sheet at Sixways.

"We are as prepared as we can be, we know how we want to play and how we can hurt them, but every player will need to be a 9/10 on the day.

"Regardless of what happens, I am so proud of this group, but as I said, we don’t want the journey to end just yet and we will be fighting for those Pershore fans who are set to travel in their numbers."
