Central Defender, Matt Nutt, will be attending pre-season with a Step Three club as of this week having impressed last season.

Nutt, who joined Pershore Town following Danny Janes' arrival in November, produced a number of impressive performances for The Plums capturing the eye of a newly promoted Step Three side.

Matt featured twenty one times for Pershore Town last season scoring on two occasions. The defender first linked up with Janes ahead of the 2020/21 season, signing for his previous club from Midland League Division Three side, Central Ajax.

'Nutty' will now train with a side some three leagues above Pershore Town and five above where he was playing just three seasons ago.

"Nutty is a big loss, we never accounted for losing him but when a Step Three club comes in, it's hard to turn that opportunity down." said Janes.

"I was made aware by the respective club that they were interested and we would never get in the way of a player leaving, especially because they are moving up the pyramid.

"Myself and Tom actually told Matt that we felt he was at the age now to accept the opportunity, despite us not wanting to lose him.

"A lot of clubs boast when one of their players have progressed and they are glad to have played a part in that player's journey, we are not a feeder club, I am delighted for Nutty but my main focus is Pershore Town Football Club and our progress.

"We have moved quickly to solve the situation, and I am delighted with the outcome. We wish Matt all the best on his journey and he knows we will be supporting him.

"He played a huge part in the success last season and he leaves knowing how much of an impact he had."

Meanwhile, after attending the first five Plums' sessions this season, Janes' side will hold Matt Nutt's Hellenic League registration for the 2022/23 season.
